Fair Vote Canada annual meeting set for May 31 at Ryerson University, Toronto

Fair Vote Canada's seventh annual meeting will feature an exciting array of speakers and presentations. The opening keynote speaker will be Andrew Coyne, National Editor, Maclean's, noted media commentator and columnist.

The detailed agenda and registration form are now available. The meeting is open to the public. Advance registration is required.

FVC National Council election - candidate statements

FVC members in good standing will receive election ballots by mail in early May. Fifteen candidates are competing for five seats on the FVC National Council. The candidates' statements are now available for review. The ballot deadline is May 27.

New poll shows 59% of New Zealanders happy with MMP system (March 30, 2008)

Having now used the mixed-member proportional (MMP) voting system in four general elections, a healthy majority of New Zealanders like this new approach to electoral politics, according to a recent poll. Conducted in March for digital channel TVNZ 7, the poll found 59% of New Zealanders are generally happy with their proportional voting system.

Stelmach to hear from students

With support from Fair Vote Alberta, students at the University of Lethbridge, University of Alberta and University of Calgary are organizing to push for an Alberta citizens’ assembly on electoral reform.

Michelle Morris, spokesperson for the Lethbridge group, said the students are organizing a write-a-thon to send letters to Premier Ed Stelmach, and have established a Facebook group “A Citizens’ Assembly for Alberta. We Demand It”.
